AGEMERA workshop gathers 80 high school students in Estonia
Youngsters learned about the omnipresence of critical raw materials in their day-to-day lives and discussed the ways to recycle them for a circular economy
On 8 October 2024, our colleague Karin Käär from the Tallinn University of Technology led a workshop with high school students aged 13-17 as part of a sustainable entrepreneurship programme overseen by Pärnumaa Arenduskeskus.
The workshop is called "Where does your fork come from?" and it draws attention, in an engaging way, to how critical raw materials are everywhere in our lives, even in the most basic kitchen supplies that we all have in our homes and use every day. We're happy to report that students were very curious, attentive, and asked many questions about the raw materials sector, eager to find out more about the recycling of these materials and how it all connects to the circular economy we are working towards.
Improving knowledge and education on critical raw materials is a core feature of our project. We aim to equip youngsters with the necessary tools to understand the world they live in and the challenges we face, including the need to secure a steady supply of raw materials while preserving our strategic autonomy here, in Europe. We also launched a micro-credential on the same topic - only this time the target audience is university students.
If you are a teacher looking to implement a similar workshop in your classroom, you will find all the necessary information in the dedicated section on our website here.
