Advancing digital education: AGEMERA micro-credential presented at the Mining Forum in Berlin
The online course on critical raw materials developed in our project was introduced to key players in the mining industry
The future of education might be (also) digital - and we're happy to jump on the bandwagon! At the beginning of June, colleagues from our partner instittution TU Bergakademie Freiberg joined the Mining Forum in Berlin - Germany's go-to international networking conference for the mining and raw material sector, which brings together experts and decision makers to discuss trends and opportunities in the field.
Georg Meißner introduced the audience to the online course we developed and launched this spring, the result of the work of 5 of our academic partners: University of Oulu, University of Lapland, University of Zambia, and TalTech - Tallinn University of Technology, and of course, TU Freiberg. The course is called "European Critical Raw Materials for the Green and Digital Transition" and it aims to fill a gap in online educational resources related to critical raw materials. It works as a micro-credential and it was launched in March 2024 through the Opal platform.
Who is the course for? Long story short: everybody. Initially designed for aspiring scientists and engineers, the online course sparked the curiosity of students beyond these specialisations, as it addresses geopolitical, social, economic, and environmental aspects as well. Organised in 14 different sessions, it provides participants with a certificate of attendance upon successful completion, and 3 ECTS.
