AGEMERA in the Sofia Science Festival

AGEMERA in the Sofia Science Festival

Our Bulgarian partners joined the Sofia Science Festival in May and boosted our visibility among new audiences

Ensuring a secure supply of critical raw materials is essential to strengthen Europe's resilience. But not everyone has the knowledge or the access to reliable information to grasp what critical raw materials are and how they impact our daily lives. This is why we highly value events that aim to popularise science and transform complex topics into digestible content that everyone can have access to.

This being said, we are happy to announce that we participated with our project in the Sofia Science Festival that took place between 11 and 12 May 2024! Our partners at the Geological Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences with the support of colleagues from Asarel-Medet JSC had a dedicated stand in the festival that received a lot of attention - including younger audiences! The stand featured raw materials (primarily from Bulgaria) with a focus on the porphyry-copper systems and Asarel deposit, but we also had examples from other deposit types, for instance bauxites from Jajce (another one of out test sites in Bosnia and Herzegovina).

And that is not all! Prof. Dr. Irena Peytcheva (in co-authorship with Rositsa Vassileva, Atanas Hikov, István Márton, Vasilios Melfos, Stoyan Georgiev, Desislav Ivanov, Marko Holma) conducted a lecture with the title "Ancient mining, recent discoveries and future potential for critical and strategic raw materials in Bulgaria", touching upon our project's mission.

As always,we would like to thank our partners for their energy and dedication to raise awareness of critical raw materials and their role in our economies and twin transition!
